Mt. Saskatchewan - 5

Their second day they began to break trail. This was a long slow process. It involved using a probe to check for crevices and then taking 2 steps, probe, step, etc. They took turns making the trail as it was hard work pounding down the snow. As you can see from the pictures it was up to their knees. They were always tied together in case someone broke through and fell into a crevice, which Trev did do. He felt himself start to sink and threw out his arms to make himself as wide as possible. He sunk down to his armpits and could swing is legs all around without hitting anything. Steve and Drew were able to anchor themselves and pull him out. I only found out about this when he was home and nice and safe. Satellite message - Very cold in am. Mountain is huge. Scouted today, moving to high camp tomorrow.
