3 Months Old

Ava is now 3 months old and smiling all the time. At her check-up she was 11lbs 6 ozs and 24.5 inches long putting her in the 25% for weight and the 75% for height. We have another tall skinny child!! She definitely has Trev's blue eyes and blonde hair from who knows where. She has such a different look from Noah who had dark brown hair and brown eyes. She is a content baby and it is pretty easy to get a smile out of her, I am waiting for the giggling to start. She loves to sit up. She starts to cry as soon as we lay her on her back so she is either in the swing, vibrating chair, Bumbo chair or our arms taking it all in. She loves her vibrating chair and she can swat and grab at the toys dangling down.

We did have a nice routine with eating and sleeping going on until she started refusing to eat off one side and wanting to eat every 2 hours after her 3 month growth spurt. Not good. This also shortened the length of time she would go between night feedings, making me exhausted and irritable (just ask Trev!). This happened with Noah and he ended up eating every two hours around the clock and not gaining sufficient weight. Then it was a huge 3 month battle of trying to increase my milk production and find a way that Noah would take formula. I started the bottle with Ava quite a bit earlier this time around to prevent this but it was hit and miss with it. I have been trying to be really diligent with using the bottle once she started refusing to eat from the one side and I have finally been able to give her one bottle an evening for the last 4 nights and she has been sleeping in 6-7 hour chunks. Yeah!!! Her formula has to be really warm before she will drink it but I will do whatever she wants as long as she will take it. I am not ready to give up breastfeeding yet so hopefully this will work.

We moved Ava from the bassinet in our room to her own room and she prefers to be swaddled and just put down in her bed to go to sleep now which is so nice. It makes it very easy to put her to bed and anyone can do it. She used to like to be held and have her bum patted but she preferred only having me do it.

Noah still enjoys her and loves giving her her soother. It is very handy having an extra set of hands around to get me a diaper or give her a soother. Ava likes to watch him jump around and has started to smile when Noah is in her face!
